So...this is kind of a lame question but...

When do you know you're an adult? Is there like...some kind of right of passage or?

Opinions?

There isn't a set time. People become adults at different times and in different ways. But most know when they can look at their life and put responsibilities before fun and you know for a fact the world no longer revolves around yourself and it doesn't bother you to know that.

Huh...well I mean, I'm a superhero. That's kind of part of the job.

True. But what about your personal life?

From: [identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com
Um...mostly spent reading comic books, watching TV and waiting for the next big crime that is in need of my superheroics.

I used to have a girlfriend but she was sent home.

Oh! And I run an Inn sorta. It mostly runs itself.

Hmmm. And are you okay with all of that?

From: [identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com
Well I do wish my girlfriend was still here, and I miss my life back home.

On the other side I know what I'm doing here is important too ya know? So I can't exactly just walk away, even if I had the option to leave.

I get it. One last question. Do you want to be an adult?

From: [identity profile] changelingdude.livejournal.com
I dunno, it's kind of important isn't it? I mean I am 19 now...

I'm going to tell you something a wise woman once told me. Age doesn't determine your maturity. You don't turn a magic age and become an adult. It's a conscious choice. You choose whether to grow up or remain a kid or teen. That's all there is too it. It's your choice.

Usually when the things that used to seem so significant seem less so... and different things take their place.

I'm not sure I understand...like what?

Back when you're a child, things seem like the most important things in the world. Later on, they don't seem as much so, in comparison.

Oh I think I get it, but if you know, saving the world vs. getting a story before bedtime is all it takes to be an adult that sets the bar kinda low.

... okay... that's a good point...

It's just that, since I do the whole "Superhero" thing and take on responsibility, fight crime, risk my life to save the world, I was wondering if that's enough to consider me an adult, because I'm still goofing around reading comic books, watching cartoons all that kid stuff.

Well, B.B., there's no real answer to that question.

It's a question of maturity, how old you feel, how old you act... And how old you're willing to let yourself be.

Legally? It's at 18. Law, however, has very little to do with how we feel...

I was afraid of something like that.

I mean, you know me. I still make weekly trips to the toy store.

Buuuuuut i'm also all caretakery for the Inn so...yeah.

And you know me, B.B. I'll be right there to buy you comics, sweets, and the latest cheesy movie releases.

You know if you need a hand, you can ask, right? You don't need to carry all this on your shoulders.

Eh, it's not that much work really. Sides working around the Inn keeps me busy so I don't get totally bored. It's not exactly as action packed as living full time in Neon City but I have less bruises.

I see.

But how do you feel? Are you holding together okay?

The holidays were a little rough but I'm still smilin' you know? Blame your sister for that one.

She's good people. As are you.

One of these nights, once my courses wind down from the start of the semester, I'm going to drag you out for a movie or two.

No, stop, don't, please.

...can you just feel the sarcasm dripping off that resistance?

That would be awesome! Seriously when was the last time you went out and did something not work related?

From: [identity profile] scrapperzen.livejournal.com
Ha! Somehow I got the feeling that you wouldn't mind that.

And don't you worry, B.B., I've got Leormon watching me. When he tells me to take a break, I take a break. You won't catch me losing myself to my work.

We've all seen too many people have that happen.

(OOC: Strikes totally visible.)

Adult hood tends to be the same as childhood, only you have to be more careful about what you do and you can't really tell when you start doing it. It just kinda happens.

Uh... yeah sure, something like that?

Well ya know, because I have shapeshifty turn into animals powers I have to be more careful or people could get hurt.

Oh I know that. Just I don't know how that is what with, yanno, not being a shape shifty hero-type.
